As car enthusiasts, we often scrutinize every detail, and the center console of the Porsche 997 is no exception. With the age of the donor car showing, it’s clear this element needs a serious overhaul. Our mission was twofold: first, to reconcile the high-tech appearance of the original center console with the low-tech aesthetic we believe better matches the 930's design ethos; and second, to refine the overall design and tactile feel of the center console's components, including buttons, dials, and levers.
Low-Tech Interior for the 00 Car
For the 00 model, we opted for a low-tech interior. This meant removing the touch screen and repositioning the climate control and PSMA sections higher up to align with the lower dash. Despite these changes, connectivity remains a priority. Users can still link their mobile phones to the stereo system for music, speakerphone, and navigation. Below are examples showcasing a beige leather combo with pepita and black, alongside a more understated all-black version.

High-Tech Upgrade Options
For those who prefer a high-tech experience, we’re offering an upgraded Porsche stereo supporting CarPlay. Customers can personalize the center console face, choosing between a piano black or carbon fiber pattern, and selecting from a variety of colors for the buttons and dials. This customization ensures a tailored look that meets modern expectations.

Challenges in Reverse Engineering
One of our biggest challenges was reverse engineering the buttons and dials. These components are incredibly delicate, and any imperfections are immediately noticeable—not just visually, but also in their tactile feedback. Achieving the right aesthetic and feel was crucial. Below, we present several faceplate and button combination options, showcasing our commitment to merging retro-modern design with high-quality finish.

Button Design Evolution
Designing the buttons was a meticulous process. Our aim was to create a retro-modern look that remains true to the analogue experience. The CAD designs, on which these buttons are based, reflect this vision.

Here, you can see photos of the climate control faceplate being painted piano black, along with early prototypes of the buttons.

Ongoing Perfection
While the buttons have come a long way, they’re not yet perfect. We’re dedicated to refining them further to achieve that perfection. The journey continues! Stay tuned for more updates on our progress, as we keep pushing the boundaries of design and functionality.
